Nicolae Rita is originally from Bucharest, Romania and moved to the US in 2005 to persue his career in professional makeup styling. An artist by trade, he went to Nicolae Grigorescu University in Bucharest, where he reciecved his degree in Costume and Stage Design and persued his love of painting. After University, he transformed his artistic talents into a career in Makeup Art for Film and Television - working at various stations such as Pro TV, Pro TV International and Acasa TV. During this time he also learned special effects makeup on films such as the American production The Defender, Hallmark’s Gunpowder, Treason and Plot and the French production L’homme Presse. Nicolae also worked with various Romanian musicians, celebrities and politicians (including the president’s wife) for music videos, editorial photo shoots and television appearances.
Shortly after moving to New York, he starting working for the internationally known esthetics school Christine Valmy, where he began teaching Basic and Advanced Makeup Techniques. Nicolae has developed a loyal following of students who call on him for technique advice. He also gives seminars on Permanent Makeup Application Technique.
In 2007, Nicolae returned to Television makeup when he was hired to be the personal makeup artist for Audra Lowe, the host of Better TV, a nationally syndicated lifestyle TV show from the publisher of Better Homes & Gardens. In 2012, he became the personal makeup artist for the new hosts JD Roberto and Rebecca Budig. Nicolae also is responsible for the makeup for many of Better TV’s celebrity guests including Rocco DiSpirito, Jill Zarin, Andre Agassi, Joan Osborne and Beverly Johnson. His work can also be seen on shows like Talk Stoop, The Real Housewives of New York, Watch What Happens Live! and Next Great Family Band.
Nicolae is available for Film and Television Productions, Editioral Shoots, Bridal Makeup, Personal Makeup and Permanent Makeup. He is based in Midtown West Manhattan.
